Went to watch Tron at PS yesterday. Wanted to watch at Tampines as usual but the timing was too late.. Effects are good but story line so so.. Olivia Wilde's eyes are so big.. scary lol..

We had dinner at Ajino Champon. I ask the waiter what is champon and he said it's a different type of ramen.

I dun really like it hehe cos there is super alot of veg inside and ppl who knows me, knows i dun eat veg. So will be a first and last time for me. Price of the food is also not cheap. It is under the Ajisen family. I would rather eat my fav Volcano ramen!

After dinner, we went to buy Gong Cha!! As usual I order Earl Grey with 3Gs and maw order Longan red milk tea with aiyu jelly. I feel Longan dun goes with milk tea. Maybe if someone tried it, let me know if it's just me hehe.

received zhiying's sms on monday morning... she told me a tragic mishap happened to the son of someone we knew... it's on the news but i dunno he is the son of joyce until zhiying told me :( i couldnt believe it at first...

i have seen her son once before and never thought that such incident will happen to him.. from the way joyce always talked abt her family, i can sense that they are a very close and loving family... joyce is always so smiley when i see her but ytd i see her standing beside her son's coffin so wear out, so many mixed feeling at that point of time.. hope the police will catch the group of guys soon and let darren RIP..

New addition to our house!

After living in our house for around 10 months, we finally bought a microwave oven hehe.. We use maw's credit card points to exchange for best denki vouchers... spent so much on wedding and the points is only enough to exchange for $200 vouchers.. so pathetic :(

anyway after deducting from the vouchers, we still need to pay $199 for the oven.. i guess not too bad as there are quite abit of functions.. and now we can defrost meat without having to worry we forget to take it out of the fridge in the morning!

ytd we went to the zi char stall at tampines blk 844 for dinner... we ordered chilli crab, fried mee sua and seafood pizza... this zi char stall is recommend on channel 8 before... one of their recommended dish is chai po fish... it's really gd! biz there is very gd... we went there at 6 it was still fairly empty... 630 onwards it very difficult to find seats... a highly recommended place to go for a gd meal!

i only took pic of the chilli crab and half eaten seafood pizza... i love the seafood pizza... even the auntie sitting at the table beside me ask me wat's that.. oh ya, and the dinner is maw's treat! thanks hubby!

went to watch Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief yesterday... feels abit like harry potter... movie wasnt too bad... was watching at midnite so was afraid i might fall asleep hehe... but i was glued to the movie for 2 hrs... can go watch this movie during the long cny holiday... and i find the guy that acted as Luke(Jake Abel) not bad looking hehe...

been long time since i last blogged... married life had been so far so gd! and we seems to be busier too! we try to cook at least 2 meals per week, clean the house once every 2 weeks and ironing more clothes now!

monday maw juz cooked chicken rice with home made chili and garlic sauce.. can match outside standard hehe...

yesterday he tried to cook 三杯鸡! another pass for him! he tasted real good but very oily lol... unhealthy food... he cooked chap cai also... we used the wrong veg though but nvm everyone learn from mistake!

Woke up super early on the 2nd day because wifey said "A lot of old people will come and eat one, then we will be the only young people there. Must be early otherwise no seat." The youngsters do not know what they are missing out! We went into a random restaurant like Dim Sum place in the Jordan area and got down to work. Slightly cheaper than the local Dim Sum but taste way better! Check it out! Only problem is .... how do you order the tea?

After we had fun with wax, we had lunch at a place called Pasta 360. Seems like a Atas version of the chain restaurants called Pasta House. The sign outside said 45% off if use Citibank card. An offer we cannot refuse! It was fantastic!

We then took a bus back to the bus interchange and went to shop at the IFC supermarket. Wow! It seriously has a lot of stuff to buy. We then took a train to Causeway Bay to do little shopping and a lot of walking. It was raining, so I was moody and tired and didn't feel very well. Decided to whack a Mac's Shogun burger for dinner because it had pork patty in it!

I can live without beef, but not pork!

Hong Kong Day 1

Hi all! Just a little story on our short trip to Hong Kong, a little warm up for the big one next year! Anyway here it goes....

05:30 am Woke up, brush teeth, packed other last minute stuff.
06:30 am Esther's family was kind enough to come and fetch us to the airport. Good Job!
07:00 am We reached the airport and went to the terminal canteen to eat breakfast. The prices are very cheap if you work there! So get a friend who has one or get Esther's Dad!
08:00 am Boarded the plane, ready to go! Food was ok. Service was bad.

11:32ish am We finally reached our destination. No time difference so a + point there. Went to a place stated on this mini map given to us by the travel agency only to find out that it was the wrong place and then went to find the right guy. The guy at the rendezvous point was really polite. Told us to wait at the blue chairs until the rest came. Total of 5 groups were boarding the bus to various hotels.

Got me luggage from ze luggage pick up place.

12:00+ish pm We reached out accommodation. Not too shabby. Place was small but clean at least and the bell boys were HAWT according to the wifey.

Our safe haven for the next 4 days

12:30+ish pm We headed out to Nu Ren Jie 女人街 or at least tried to because we got lost after about 30 mins of walking. Wifey says it's been 3 years since she last came to HK. Hehe. Anyway we decided to head to the nearest MTR, the equivalent to our MRT in Singapore. We bought an Airport Express Octopus card if I remembered correctly which lets you travel for 3 days non stop and have 1 ride to the Airport for only 220 HK dollars! Collect back deposit of 50 dollars at the airport at the end of the trip. We took a train down to Mong Kok 旺角 station which was directly next to Nu Ren Jie. This place is a shopping heaven for the ladies. Lots of shoes, clothes, bags, you name it they have it at pretty reasonable prices and nice designs.

After much walking we decided to head down to Jian Sha Zhui 尖沙咀 to see the Avenue of Stars. Wifey said it is a must to go otherwise people will call you a Sua Ku. This place has these concrete slabs on the floor where famous people come to have their hands imprinted in it and sign their names on it. We had quite a few, decided to choose one of the more famous people for sampling.

After enjoying the scenic night view and the sticky sea breeze, we decided to head to Nu Ren Jie 女人街 again to eat some stuff. We randomly came across this restaurant that served it's famous spicy and sour soup with 5 different types of noodles and you get to choose 1 main ingredient and top up more by forking out cash of course. You then get to choose the spiciness from Big, to Middle, to Small. I just doing a direct translation of the menu for the spiciness. Lol. The soup was superb with a generous serving of bean sprouts and preserved vegetables and I chose Pork Cutlet for my main which was really good. Wifey had beef and stomach. We both chose Small spicy. Test test first. The taste was just heavenly with the right amount of spiciness for me but not enough for the Wifey. Can be spicier she says. This is a must eat for all! Located along Soy Street in Nu Ren Jie.

***** A five star rating! I will definitely go back here to eat if I ever go to HK again

thanks to lock we got free tix to watch F1 Live at the singapore flyer... me and maw were talking abt going to watch this year after our wedding and it came true hehe...

watching the race on tv and live is very different.. the cars doesnt seems to move as fast but when u watch live it damn fast! and the view from the flyer is awesome! all the cars are below us and u get to see the super bright tracks... congrats hamilton for coming in 1st!

If you like Quentin Tarantino films, this is a must watch! The show was a little slow at the start, but it got better and ended really well! The filming style was very refreshing when they try to put something funny in a serious situation. Watch it if you can!

finally after 1 yr plus of planning and preparation, the day has come! the day passed super fast.. it was over before we realized it... it was a tiring day for all of us... i would like to thanks everyone who has helped us out in one way or another, regardless how small it is... it's not easy without the help given especially the xiong dis and jie meis who followed us all the way from morning to night...

Having used to own 5 guinea pigs ourselves, this show was a must watch for us! The guinea pigs were super cute in this movie and we were lucky ours couldn't do what you see in this movie! A nice family show that I hope does not encourage young kids to buy guinea pigs on the whim. Very entertaining. A must watch for all furry creature lovers!

You must be wondering why we are watching a Jack Neo movie.....well we had a one-for-one GV ticket because Esther had to grow one year older in the month of August and the offer was only valid for movies shown 2 weeks ago. We wanted to watch The Proposal as we heard lots of good comments from our friends. Anyway, the movie wasn't too bad and as usual, unless you understand a substantial amount of Hokkien you probably won't catch half the jokes as the english translation is a bit off. We had a surprise when the third short story was actually a continutation of Money No Enough 2. To be honest, I actually like his movies because of the local humour and the moral behind some of the shows. Watch it if you want some laughs!

Hi all! Been a long while since we posted anything due to hectic wedding preparations! Yes 2 more weeks++, we are feeling a little bit excited and nervous at the same time. Despite the preparations we took some time off to catch this movie with Lock and Felicia(Thanks guys for the $7.50 tickets, inspired to sign up HSBC card) This movie is really funny and entertaining with more gruesome scenes as compared to the earlier Final Destinations, but we still preferred FD3, the one with the roller coaster! Go watch it if you want to see people die in all sorts of funny ways, I know Esther loved it. LOL. Death definitely has a sense of humour....

A day in JB...

went JB ytd to print our wedding card inserts... it was both our first time taking bus in so we abit blur... took the bus from queen street and lucky it didnt take us long to reach JB... met up with grace from sgbrides forum to go to the printing shop, T & T instant print services... chose the words, added in our details and waited one hr for them to do our the sample for us to take a look...

in the meantime, went to eat lunch while waiting... went to eat at a restaurant called Stonegrill... food was not bad and cheap too(cos it's in RM hehe)... we ordered a set for 2 which consists of chicken, lamb and beef but we ask for only chicken and beef... eat until super full...

after lunch went back to view the sample... maw asked me if printing in malaysia, price will be alot cheaper? when the lady told us the price, he was shocked hehe... can save quite abit juz that we have to take abit more time traveling in and out... inserts will be rdy in a week!

herby and zhiying came in after we were done with the cards and decided to go Jusco since it still early for dinner... Jusco remind me of vivo and it is huge... and we found nando's!

More than meets the eye!

Second installation of Transformers was not too bad. If you are an action junky and a real geek for CG, then this is the show for you! I liked how they brought in the "new" robots like the twins(2 robots transform to become 1) and the constructorcons(5 become 1!). Nothing like the originals but still entertaining. Gotta love Megan Fox in slow motion! 3 popcorns!(1 for Megan Fox!)

Distant Worlds Final Fantasy

We attended the concert with Herby last Saturday at the Esplanade concert Hall. This is one freaking awesome concert especially if you are a huge Final Fantasy fan like me! All music were composed by Nobuo Uematsu. They had familiar favourites like Aerith's theme, Terra's theme, battle music from FFVII Don't be afraid and of course the one and only One Winged Angel. The song you are currently listening too is the One Winged Angel from a previous concert, courtesy of my colleague Yuan Su. A huge thanks to him as well for introducing me to attend the concert or I would have missed the best Final Fantasy Concert EVA! At least for me that is. Hehe. Highly recommended to attend if the opportunity comes along!

Night at the Museum AGAIN!

Same people, different place! The second installation of this movie is very good! I felt it was better than the first one. This time round stars Amy Adams(Disney's Enchanted) as Amelia Earheart. I didn't recognise her until much later. The curly short hair makes a difference! Although a family fun show, the characters were very amusing and will keep you entertained all the way to the end. A must watch for all!

Angels & Demons

This show is highly recommended for those who have not read the book. Throughout the movie I was consciously matching the details of the movie with book. The book is much better than the movie but if you like those one thing to another mystery(think National Treasure) then this movie is for you! Do read the book after the movie if you can and you will know what I'm talking about.

Wolverine

This movie basically explains how wolverine came about having an adamantium skeleton and how he lost his memory which links to the other X-men movies. It follows some what quite close to the original storyline with very cool special effects. They did some justice to Sabertooth in this movie by making him talk more and fight properly. Gambit was very cool in this movie but the accent was a little bit off yeah, Mon Cherie?. The best X-men movie out there to date! A must watch for all for the entertainment and a pass for the comic geeks if you really wanted to stab yourself with your Wolverine action figure because the storyline was not "what you wanted".

This is one of those movies where the best parts are all shown in the trailer. The built up at the start of the movie was really good, but ended with a really crappy ending. If you like M.Night Shyamalan movie endings, you will like this one, if not....PASS! Save yourself $10 and do your friends a favor and save their $10.

went down for my first EG fitting in the afternoon... it still very raw w/o the blink blink... so after seeing it, i didnt have the 'wow' reaction... hope after adding them, the feel will be different... jessica took measurement for the length im comfortable with for both the WG and EG... the last time i seen my WG was exactly 1 yr ago! we didnt realized until jessica saw the date when we made our first deposit... took pic of the gowns but maw said dun post it... keep it a secret until the actual day...

and it's maw's turn to do his suit... jessica made the measurements and ask him wat type of suit he prefer... in the meantime, he need to go get his shirt tailor made before the next fitting that will be scheduled in early may... more things to be do!!

after fitting, we head down to carrefour to look for wines... asked kaylynn what is the brand of their house wine and the price... their was exp! and she suggested going to buy at carrefour which is like almost half the price... we bought a bottle and try it out on the spot as the brand is having sale... compared with another brand which they allowed us to try... i dunno much about wines therefore decision is up to maw... he tried both and say the brand of the hotel house wine is better... since they are having a sale and it within our budget, we decided to get it... even a simple thing like wine can be such a big headache... but now it's settled! one more thing down!

One of the best movies I have seen so far in 2009. This movie is about a farm boy who dreams to be a trendy singer but somehow winds up a in Death Metal band called Detroit Metal City. Lots of laughs and heartwarming moments, never a dull one. Stars Kenichi Matsumaya("L" in Death Note). A must watch!

The storyline does not follow the actual character stories, was a bit slow and the action was pretty bad, but I must say, Edmund Chen did a really great job in this movie although it was a small role for him. Skip this if you can and guys, Kristin Kreuk is not really worth to see in this movie.

This is one of the most horrible movies I have ever watched! The build up at the start was good, then it got really slow to the point I fell asleep 5 times or more during the movie. I tried very hard to get my money's worth on a midnight movie by staying awake but failed terribly. When the plot was revealed, I thought "Ok, cool, now bring on the power ending!" only to be stumped by a seriously WTF feeling when it ended. The big "X" next to "Suxspect" means DO NOT WATCH this sibeh waste money movie. ZERO popcorns ftw!

attended 3 lessons of MPC so far... felt it's really good and i would encourage couples to go even if they have no intention of getting married yet as topics like communication is just as important all the time...

in the past, i tend to take many things for granted... after attending the course, i came to realize that actually im very fortunate to have met maw... as a gal, i always wish my bf is the romantic sort but realize that different ppl shows their love differently... not every guy is the same... maw is the kind of guy that will always be there for u when u got problems and very encouraging and understanding...

the other way rd i felt i dun make a gd partner lol... can be quite cranky at times... only 6 more mths to go before our wedding... muz learn to be a good WTB! >.<

friday we met up for dinner at central... i meet herby first as the rest were late... we were supposed to walk up to look for a restaurant weelock was talking abt... halfway we saw this new candy shop called sticky... the colorful candies caught my eye and juz as we tot this is juz another candy shop, we saw 2 guys in the shop making the candies from scratch... it was amazing and we stood there for more 45 mins to watch them finish it... after they finish, they let us try and it was good! so we bought 2 packets... the apple rock and the mixed rock...

and why it amazing... look at the sweets sideways...

it so cute... there are pictures in it and some are how the fruit looks like when it is cut... the candies are addicted... try it!

went down to DC ytd to decide on my EG design... jessica told me to do some research on the design i want and bring down magazine to show her... she was a bit shocked when she see me going there empty handed...

actually i really dunno what i want... maw said i look nice in high collar so i told her wat abt high collar design... she let me try a few design and said high collar will tend to make one looks more mature, im so young why muz dress until so mature... so she let me try other designs and let me compare... maw juz sit outside and see lol... in the end, he sketch out a design on his own with mix and match from the different designs i tried... and ask jessica if it's suited me... jessica was shocked to see him draw... hidden talent sia :x after abit of amending here and there by jessica it's finally done.. quite a very different style from the usual EG... thanks to my 2 designers lol... cant wait for jessica to call me now to go down for the next fitting...

Vampires Vs Werewolves

The prequel to the Underworld movie series, this movie is set back to the time when Viktor had a daughter, Sonja, who fell in love with a special lycan, Lucian, who was able to turn into a werewolf at will. Lycans were slaves, vampires were masters, the story is pretty predictable if you watched the first Underworld movie, but still the action was pretty cool if you asked me. I still get a kick of watching the werewolves transform and the battle scenes were pretty nice. Pray you get into a movie theatre with proper lighting or you're gonna squint your eyes a lot to understand the action. I feel you can skip this movie if you don't follow the Underworld series. Additional popcorn because it starred the very hawt Rhona Mithra!

ytd we finally collected our arm chair bean bags... we bought it last yr during the christmas promotion where 2nd item is at 33% discount... felt was a good buy and we wanted to put bean bags in our cosy area so we got wat we want!

lucky herby came and help us with it else we were have a hard time bringing it back... they are huge... was afraid they wun fit into the car as there are still the 3 of us.... we almost tear apart the back of the car to fit them in.... and i had to squeeze in the back seat as there was not much space left...

it had been a super busy weekend for us... went down to the house early in the morning at 10am on a saturday morning to wait for the delivery of the bed and the curtain uncle to drill and install the curtain tracks... followed by delivery of our furniture from barang barang...

the bed came the earliest... they fixed the bed frame and one of the guy explained to us how long and how to rotate the bed so as to maintain the shape...

the model of our mattress is missouri... during the promotion, there is a free mattress protector, a settee look alike to put in front of the bed, 2 pillows and 2 sheeps... we bought the bed frame and 2 latex pillows... we chose sheep number 4 and 8 but 4 has no stock... the guy said normally singaporean dun like the number 4 therefore they dun take much in :( so now we have to wait till the stock comes and we go down to centrepoint serta to collect...

next to come was the curtain uncle... he drill and install the curtain tracks first... but the curtains will only be ready after chinese new year...

after the curtain uncle was done, we tot we could go out and have lunch as the barang barang delivery was from 3-6pm... but they called up ard 1+ saying that they are nearby and if they can come down now... thanks herby for helping us buy lunch!

next the laminates people come to fixed our wardrobe... there was a little scratch and the guys came and color it... i was a bit shocked as i tot they will change the whole laminate... but since it not a very big scratch and after they color it, it wasnt that obvious...

as our house is not on the lift level so all the poor delivery guys have to carry all the heavy furniture down the stairs... 辛苦他们了！

the sofa, coffee table and tv console are settled... as for the dinning table, maw prefer to place it against the mirror and i prefer to place it in the middle of the dinning room... wonder which will looks nicer... hmmm... 1st picture is against the mirror whereas 2nd is in the middle of the dinning room...

after all the things came, we went to ikea to do some shopping... bought the mickey mouse hands to stick on the corner of the cooker hood as the cooker hood is quite low and the corners are very sharp and i'm the only one that always seem to knock into it =( it's to protect my head...

bought some glasses for normal drinks and beer.... the beer glasses belongs to maw -.-;

jessie intro me to an italian restaurant at stanley road called Porta Porta...

very nice and quiet environment if you like to have a quiet and relaxing dinner... food was awesome but abit on the pricy side...

we started off with warm frocccia bread with vingear dipping... followed by the starter... we ordered bruschetta...

as for main course, herby order tortellini with beef sauce... he called it 'italian xiao long bao' whereas i called it 'italian wanton' hehe...

maw ordered salmon pasta with tomato sauce... one of the dishes jessie recommended...

lastly, i order vongole, my favorite pasta! it was delicious! some of the vongole i ate outside, the sauce is tasteless but this one is thumb up!

for dessert, we ordered the tiramisu which was also recommended by jessie...

this restaurant does not have service charge so you might wanna tip if the service is good... we did tipped as we find it good... a restaurant to try it out if you feel like eating good italian food...

Ok, I admit, didn't expect this movie to be so good and no, he's not a super hero who can change your Internet Protocol at will. Pronounced Yip Mun, this was the story of the life of the legendary Bruce Lee's master who used his fists to unite China during the Japanese Occupation. His martial arts style called Wing Chun is really cool watch. With some humour and lots of kung fu action, this movie had my eyes glued onto the screen the whole time wanting for more, especially when you know he is going to pull out some cool moves in the next few seconds. A must watch!

met up with larry ytd at the house... as usual he's late again... when i went down on thurs... only the shower screen and toilet doors are up so i didnt really expect anything more... was suprised when i went in... the dividers, wardrobe, kitchen carbinets and bedroom doors are up! wow they are fast... all up within a day...

the granite top is not ready... there will be a black glass in between the top and bottom cabinet... not ready too...

maw's coy held their family day at singapore flyer... wanted to go have a ride since it started but many told me nothing much to see but construction sites... it's true thou and so... lucky i didnt go cos now it's free now! we went ard 4+ to take the shuttle bus but we waited so long for it... heard one auntie said they waited 30 mins for it and it still havent come... and maw was sweating like siao... so i suggested taking a cab since it's nearby...

had our christmas xchange present at the IL-Fiore Italian restaurant located at the basement of our coy... we were supposed to write our wish on a card and we will randomly picked one card and buy for that person... budget is $10-$12...

i picked a card that says 'fond memories'... so i bought a acrylic photo frame from muji... hai chen wished for a hdb flat and he received a can like saving bank and a print out of a resale flat application form lol... i find that was the most innovative present...

i asked for robinsons voucher and it was placed in a nice box... thanks for the person that gave it to me!

we went down to the house on sat to meet up with larry... told him the aircon trunking is done wrongly for one of the bedroom... he told us he will ask the guy to change it today... this week painting for the house will start... cant wait to see the result! we also told him we wanted the full length tea mirror for our dinning room... it will cover the whole wall... haiz exceeded our budget... but maw feels it will look quite nice... so we will go ahead!

the laminates are done very fast... at nite when we went back it was all done... we chose dark walnut color for the laminates...

finally attend my graduation ceremony ytd although i have already finish the degree in feb... after all the hard work, the midnite oil burnt and the days spent in T3 and kallang mac to rush our assignments, we all passed! think back now, wondered how we pull thru that period of nitemare... but thanks to all my grp members, without them think i wun be able to do it... once again congrats to all my grp members!

Reno - Laying of Tiles...

larry told us this week would be laying of tiles therefore ytd went up to take a look at wat has been done... i was more curious to see the kitchen toilet as the color scheme is red with black mosaic for the main wall and white tiles at the side...

ytd evening we met up with our ID larry to go down to our house where he explained what the sequence for doing toilets and kitchen...

we decided not to lay tiles on our kitchen walls... it will be plastered instead... larry said he used a better grade type of cement and the after feel will be rough rough instead of smooth type like normal walls...

went down on sat with maw and herby to take a look at the house after hacking...the workers have already packed the hacked tiles into bags and moving it down... look at the number of bags for just the master bedroom...

The picture above shows what it looks like after 5 days. I have a feeling the melon is satuarated with the vodka, so next time we have to put less I guess because Singapore has juicy watermelons. I wanted to try it chilled but Herby insisted on freezing it. His LG fridge has some kind of super freezing unit. When we took it out it was covered in ice and need thawing! No joke! The whole melon was white! VMII was somewhat a success because we managed to get all vodka in this time! Only problem was the stupid melon was not sweet. :( So we came up with funny ideas to beat the bitterness of the alcoholic fruit:

1) Felicia suggested scraping the frozen meat with a spoon and eating it. For some reason it tasted good....

2) Herby cut the meat out and used a juicer to make vokda melon juice, wasn't too bad but still had a tinge of bitterness....

3) I added coke to vodka melon juice and VOILA! Vodka melon coke! Wanted Inky to take a picture of it but I forgot to ask. It tasted really good, although everyone else was giving me weird faces after drinking it and Herby gave a "Yeah, it's good." with a straight face look.

Conclusion:

1) Do not buy a hollow melon! Chances of a non sweet melon very high.

2) Use less vodka. maybe 1/5 of a 1 litre bottle should do it. 200 ml?

3) Will try using a blender next time to blend the meat and add Coke! Juicer is CMI. Vodka Melon Coke was born.

last sat we went down to plush living to look for our ID... he showed us colors to choose for our laminates... some sample classic doors for 3 bedrooms and store room as well as bifold doors for the toilets... after which he brought us to buy lights...

the shop is called Light Senses Pte Ltd which is located at sims ave... we bought the lights for the whole house except the living and dining room... our master bedroom has 2 points and the light nearer to our bed is remote controlled hehe... i like the idea as i like to read on the bed and i hate getting up to off the lights when im sleepy... so now i dun have to get up to off the lights! Michael, the guy who served us, gave us discounts for the light and a free wireless door bell!

next, we went to buy toilet and kitchen stuffs... the shop, Viva Nueva Pte Ltd is just across the street... we bought alot of stuffs... toilet bowls, toilet sinks, kitchen sink, cooker hood, stove and toilet accessories... just keep picking... stress man after seeing the total bill... the guy also gave us discount and a free 20 litres stainless steel dustbin lol...

hacking work will start on monday and next sat we need to choose colors for the walls... busy busy!

Vodka Melon, get high on healthy fruit!

It all began when Adrian made a discovery in one of those Taiwan magazines when we were on ICT. Due to 2 accurate sources of translation of the chinese words on how to make one, we attempted our first vodka melon, which turned out to be a minor success. We only managed to infuse the meat near the hole we made which looked more like a crater than a spout. The meat was sweet and it had the alcohol taste without the weird vodka taste. But we were not discouraged, after some research on the net, I am attempting our second vodka melon, which will be tasted on this coming Saturday!

The above are all the tools you need to make a vodka melon. That's a 4.5-5 kg xi guay, about 375ml of vodka(I did not measure it exactly), a small knife and a spoon with a long handle.

Place the vokda bottle cap on the melon. Try to get it to make a shape of the cap on the melon. This serves as a guideline to cut out the circle of the spout.

Proceed to cut out the circle which you made on the melon with the small knife. Minimal skill required.

I realised that the spoon I found was way too big to fit in the spout, so I managed to find a sundae spoon. This will get the job done and not the fat head.

Start digging a nice deep spout until you reach the white meat at the other end of the melon as seen from above.

The above picture shows the estimated amount of vokda (375ml) to use if you are using those huge 1 litre bottles. WARNING! Anything more than 375ml might cause alcohol poisoning.

Next, overturn the vodka bottle and stuff the neck into the spout and let the vodka flow! With the help of my lovely assistant Esther, the above was achieved. Let all the vodka flow in. This could take 1-7 days depending on the melon. Once done, you can choose to freeze it for 1 day before serving or just chilling it in the fridge.

The vodka level at the end is what you in the above.

TADA! Vodka Melon II was completed. Added a bowl underneath the melon for stability in case it topples over and creates a mess which will lead to a very angry mother coming to kill me.

Vodka Melon I:
Dug wrongly.
Was allowed 1 day for vodka to settle.
Frozen before served. After it thawed the skin became slimy and fell off. Thanks Herby for the demo.

Vodka Melon II:
Dug properly.
Estimated allowed 5-6 days for the vodka to settle.
Will try chilling instead of freezing before serving.

Results will be posted after devouring VMII on Saturday. Stay tuned!

I came out of the movies thinking "What the hell?" The plot was so-so nia and pretty straight forward. I missed the older Bond movies where the plot was more OMG that was the bad guy? Or OMG he did it for that reason? The action scenes were very messy and James Bond in this movie is like a cyborg. He can jump from building to building, get beaten up, bleed like a human but soon cleans up his face, wears new clothes and walks away. NO gadgets whatsoever in this movie too. Bond girls not so hot. This movie deserves 2 popcorns, only because it had a cool car and Olga Kurylenko, who didn't really show off her sexiness which was a waste.

Hi all, been a long time since I did a movie review, LOL. Anyway, this movie is most likely not showing in the movies by now I think, but if you get a chance to watch it like on a business trip on a plane or somehow manage to get your hands on a dvd to watch it *cough*, go for it cause it's freaking funny! When the movie starts, it doesn't have the normally movie openings, but rather it shows a few adverts and trailers of movies. This is actually the movie itself so pay attention to it because it really cracked me up. LOL. This movie has many movie stars in it, some that you might not even recognise from the start and go "WTH that's....!" Well at least it did for me. 4 popcorns!

today i received an email from user saying that she wasnt able to access one page and asked me to help her delete a claim... i did a check and found out that the page wasnt in the project folder... i panic for a moment... in the past when i was in scs, the scary parts were functions not working, error displaying pages or data not right... users will start to 'shoot' emails and we are the ones to eat everything... i went to inform andy abt the page and he told me this page all along wasnt there... phew... think 我被吓破胆了... i panic very easily... =(

last time when i received any issue or request, i have to fixed it immediately... but here, andy said something are not urgent therefore wait 1 or 2 days it's ok.... vendor and end-user side environment is so different...

met up with my uni classmates for lunch... been sometimes since we last met... supposed to go eat at vienna restaurant at united square but it was fully reserved... so ben brought us to red star at chin swee road to eat dim sum... it was very croweded too... super long queue... we waited ard 30 mins before getting a table... food was good especially the egg tarts! we were so hungry... the table was too small for us lol as we ordered a lot...

we played ravin rabbits 2... that was fun especially we have enuff people to play 4 players... my fav mini game is the one in the cinema where u are supposed to life up ur phone when the lights are off and start texting when the lights goes on lol... look at how absorbed they are hehe...

went to try the chilli crab recommended by felicia, which was known to be very famous at Casuarina Road... we had dinner but can see felicia didnt enjoy her food lol.... so we went over to the restuarant... it was super crowded... and there is the famous crab dish on every table!

so we ordered 2 small crabs for the 5 of us... when it was served... we couldnt believe it was a small crab lol... of course, eat chilli crab must have fried man tou too!

the claw was huge! i had a hard time eating it... i was so tired when i finished it lol... but it was delicious! i love crab! >.<

today we went down to meet larry and he brought us to choose our tiles... it's a bit weird cos he asked us to choose tiles before showing us the 3D designs...

so we went to lian seng hin and he started showing us the different colors and types of tiles... it was so crowded... larry said this is one of the tiles company with better after sales services...

we choose tiles for the 2 toilets, living room and the kitchen floor tiles will be the same as the kitchen toilet floor tiles...

this are the tiles for the kitchen toilet... most bottom will be for the floor... the rest will be for the walls... larry said he will play with colors and also using mosaic... giving the toilet a very bright look...

this will be the living room floor tiles... nothing special hehe...

last are the bedroom toilet tiles... bedroom and kitchen toilets will have 2 completely different feel... bedroom will be a more cosy and relax feel...

tentatively will be these colors unless we decide to change our mind...

larry called me juz now asking if we are free this sat as he will be bringing us down to see and choose our tiles... he said the 3D designs are also ready... he's fast! was only expecting him to call us next week... cant wait for him to show us what he has design!

as usual, train was crowded and packed on the way back from work... was day-dreaming when suddenly heard a 'pong' sound from the back... turned ard and saw a gal fell onto the floor... and heard an auntie said someone fainted... actually the gal just blackout... ppl ard her was trying to help her up and some stood up to let her sit... she sat down, seems ok and even took out a bottle of water to drink... so i tot everything was ok... after like 1 min, heard 'pong' again and she blackout again... now falling off the seat... one passenger asked those near the door to press the emergency button to inform the smrt staff... the train stop at eunos mrt for a while and a smrt staff came to help the gal out before continuing... first time saw this type of thing...

but find not all singaporeans are helpful... some juz stared as if they are watching a movie... quite sad...

Singapore Home & Design 2008...

went down expo for the sg home & design 2008... maw had asked for quotation from plush interior design the week before and today we went to meet up with the ID, larry.... nice guy very easy to talk to... and he seems to be able to read my mind... i juz briefly said and he is able to describe to me in more details...

in the end, we paid a deposit of $500 to lock up the promotion package... larry will draw out the 3D designs to show us first before proceeding... anyway we need to wait till end oct or early nov to get our keys before start renovating... hope everything goes smoothly....

maw organised a bbq to celebrate his bdae... long time since we had a bbq... auntie cooked her famous curry chicken which also have been some time since i last ate...

we had curry chicken, fried bee hoon, sausages, sweet potates, chicken wings and beef steak... well i still like the curry chicken most!

went down to our future house for another viewing requested by HDB before going down for the 2nd appt later in the afternoon... the owner told us they had found a new house but they will only be moving out after hari raya... which is abt another 2 mths before we can get the keys and start renovating...

but now, we are officially the owners of our future home! cant wait for them to give us the keys!

i got a discount voucher for 50% off night safari tickets for max of 5 tickets... we asked herby and vanessa along and we met up for dinner first before heading down...

i have never been to night safari before and it's quite interesting to see animals at night... but we were quite disappointed not being to see some like the sugar gliders... dunno where are they hiding... all we see is just a cage with nothing moving inside... and it was very rushed too... by the time we walked over wanting to see the bats.... the staff informed us that the place is closing and we have to head out... :( we have to reach earlier if we were to go again...

we had a simple dinner at pho hoa, our fav vietnamese beef noodles restaurant at holland village... we have been patronizing this restaurant since our poly days... i remember me and maw will travelled one hr plus from TP to holland village since for the beef noodles... yummy!!

after dinner, we went nydc for dessert... ordered a mudpie and requested for a candle for maw to blow the candle and make a wish! Hope his wish will come true!

SMRT Challenge 2008...

another year had passed and the 2008 challenge is here again... it is held at toa payoh central...

i met catherine and siewling before heading down to tpy to meet esther yeo... went to register before having our breakfast at mac... as usual the response was very gd... heard there was abt 1800 ppl... each grp 4 ppl so total abt 450 grps!

this yr there is only open, school and family category... but there are only 5 stops compared to 9 stops for open category last yr...

this yr we came in 40 :( though its not the top 10 but we did improve hehe... we came in 60+ last yr... it was fun and tiring ... had to wake up super early... wonder if i have time to join again next yr...

I can't believe I'm saying this, but between Star Wars and Wall.E, I choose Wall.E. The way they managed to potray human emotions through animated movements of a robot is simply amazing. Was a little slow at the start, but it gets better as you watch it. The cameo robots added additional entertainment to the movie too!(You will know which one I'm talking about when you watch it, hehe). Good, clean family movie. A must watch if you can. Keep up the good work Pixar!

Hi all! After a dry spell of not watching movies up to 2 weeks, we finally got down to watch not 1 but 2 animation movies! I enjoyed the animation on this movie the most where the characters really look like the actual actors, but I still think watching real people to act in a real movie still gives me a kick whenever I watch a Star Wars movie. The idea of Anakin Skywalker having a Padawan did not quite appeal to me, but oh well I'm still a fan nonetheless. This movie is the begining of a series of another 100 more episodes screening on TV in mostly 22 mins episodes. Catch it if you like Star Wars, miss it if you don't.

First day of work...

after 3 weeks of break, it's time to start my engine again... just came back from taiwan ytd... still in holiday mood... has been waking up at 6am everyday since last wed... sooo tired...

hazel from HR conducted the induction training and after that i was shown to my dept... my dept is located on the 25th floor of singapore land tower... view was awesome...

things here were very organised... juz sit down... the dept secretary passed me one pack of stationary with a cordless phone! and the phone is new... laptop is rdy... even the name tag on the table has my name le... so different compared to scs... everyone here has a direct line... still remembered when i was in scs... few ppl share one line to save cost...

the only bad thing here is only can use meebo web msn... other than that... nothing bad to comment yet lol...

this time went with another few different colleagues... we went settlers at clarke quay last friday... had lots of fun specially when all 9 of us 'attack' andy lol... 9 vs 1... poor thing :p anyway have to thanks andy for organising and the rest who gave me 'face' to come down! >.<

thou im no longer working in scs... i still received quite a few of bdae sms from my fellow colleagues... it was really sweet of them to still remember my bdae... also not forgetting frens out there who sent their best wishes too...

had a simple dinner at thai express at paragon with maw... wow! every restaurant's queue was super long... so we chose the shortest but it was still as crowded... they mixed up the order when the phad thai was already served and they brought one more plate again...

maw bought me an adidas jacket for my present... the classic design... thanks honey!

NDP Preview - 2nd Aug 08

baoyu has extra tickets to the NDP preview last sat and she asked me to join her...

although it wasnt the actual day, but it was still my first time going to NDP... we met at 415 at MS and proceed to the venue... it was so crowded and hot... we lined up for security check and to collect our goodies bag!

we were given the seats at green sector...

wat a concidence... jessy's sis's tickets were also in the green sector so ended up all sitting together...

weather was so hot... was roasting in the sun... and while waiting for the parade to start we took more photos...

the moment i was waiting for is the fireworks!
